I'm sitting in my living room, typing away as my mom nags and bibik laughs at everything said.
This morning, i baked cookies as a suprise for my boyfriend..and he loved it :)
It is the night before raya..and no I don't feel that sense of jubilation or excitement bubbling away inside me, like how it was only just a few years ago.
I've helped out with a lot of things around the house, wih my usual duties of filling up the jars of kuih and helping my mom stir the food around.
Speaking of which, my mom cooks up a storm every raya- with nasi briyani/tomato/minyak, rendang, ayam sambal, serondeng, 2 types of sambal goreng, ketupat..ahh the list goes on.
Her food is always good- and she toils away in the kitchen for hours.
well at least bibik is here to help.

As for me, my room makeover is yet to be.
The purple paint that ive ordered from the store has yet to arrive.
I've yet to purchase black blinds, my full length mirror, spotlights, and more storage options.
I did, however, snag pink pleather cloth, thumbtacked( beautifully if i must say, hehe) in pleats to my shelf.
The cloth is absolutely lovely..my boyfriend and I fell in love with it while scouring for that perfect fabric at spotlight.

Every raya feels the same to me lately.
I like the bit in the morning, when my eldest brother is back, and all the guys leave for prayers, then my sister and her family come over to eat..and its chaos everywhere with the kids.
Then comes the forgiveness part where my elder siblings cry, and I stumble awkwardly, wondering what on earth i could say.
Everyone from my mom's side seep into the house to see my grandma.
And we all leave for the next destination.

Eventhough my dad's car is a 7 seater, it's still pretty squeezy for us.
my sister's family doesnt haven't a car yet..so imagine my parents, us 4 siblings, my brother in law..and 3 kids cramped together on 7 seats.
yeah.

worst of all is having to gather at my late grandma's place with my dad's relatives.
that's the worst.
last year, my brother and i stayed for half an hour..and escaped to starbucks at simei for a couple of hours before returning.

that'll happen for sure tomorrow.

visiting with friends is not a common occurence for me either.

only thing im sad about is not seeing my boyfriend in his baju kurung.
saw his pictures, and he looked so, so good.

love you honey. :)

i still have pics from the dinner at fish and co.

oh and guess what.
NGEE ANN has a new course.
Diploma in Child psychology and early education

what. the. fuck.

im trying not to be upset

but read this!

You will be equipped with a firm foundation in the developmental psychology of young children. CPEE will also provide you with strong understanding of the aspects and techniques of teaching, and the principles underlying quality early childhood education.

In your final year of study, you can specialise in either Early Intervention (Special Needs) or Writing and Publishing. The specialisation in Early Intervention allows you to teach in an inclusive classroom, where special needs children are integrated with other children. The specialisation in Writing and Publishing equips you with in-depth knowledge of how to create publications for children.

Career Prospects

You will be able to pursue a career as a special needs teacher or a writer of children's literature. Alternatively, you can be an early childhood educator or work in children-related industries.

Alternatively, you can also pursue further studies in our local universities in a range of related degree programmes, where you are likely to gain module exemptions equivalent to one semester's work:

Bachelor of Social Science (Psychology) — NUS
Bachelor of Social Work — NUS
Bachelor of Arts (English Language/ Literature) - NUS
Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) — NTU
Bachelor of Arts (Education) — NIE
Bachelor of Arts (English Language/ Literature) - NTU

WHY COULDN'T I HAVE BEEN BORN 2 YEARS LATER?

this frustrates me so much...i sometimes feel aggravated in my course, almost trapped. never really told my classmates this. i'm dying to do psychology, and this course would have been a fast track to a degree in psychology at ntu or nus. im not interested in education at all. the only bright side is that i have a firm foundation in children's early development and theories and such. now i have to pursue a longer route instead. shit.

i dont want to teach.ever.

so angry.

angry.

this coming semester, one of the modules is "psychology of exceptional children". now thats better.

love,nafeesa.
